The typical deck construction process includes:
DEMOLITION AND DISPOSAL
We can provide services to demolish and dispose of your existng deck, if needed.
PERMITTING AND INSPECTIONS
We will obtain all necessary local building permits and arrange for all necessary inspections.
HOA Approval
Obtaining needed HOA approvals is the responsibility of the homeowner. However, we will provide a basic deck plan and other documents needed to assist the homeowner in obtaining HOA approval.
FRAMING
We will supply and install pressure-treated wood framing members, including but not limited to 6x6 posts, 4x4 posts, 2x12 beams, 2x10 beams, 2x12 joists, 2x10 joists, 2x12 stringers, and any other pressure-treated wood framing members needed for the project. All framing connectons will be made with suitable hardware in accordance with building code, to include but not limited to through-bolts, carriage bolts, rail post anchors, hurricane straps, joist hangers, stair stringer connectors, and ledger board tension tes. Any additonal bracing or hardware as required by the local building code will also be installed.
STAIRS
Typical deck stairs are 48” wide, framed using 2x12 stringers custom fabricated on site and installed with necessary hardware for structural stability. Stair footings are provided to meet the local building code. A secondary ADA approved graspable handrail is provided on one side of the stairs. Per building code, mid stair supports will be provided for stair runs exceeding 6-foot horizontal run.
DECKING
We can supply and install most types of decking materials, including pressure-treated wood, TREX Composite Decking, TimberTech Composite Decking, and others. When possible, TREX and TimberTech will be installed using hidden fasteners and color match screws and plugs as available. Unless otherwise specified, decking will be installed in a straight patern parallel with the house.
RAILING
We can supply and install most railing systems on the market today. The typical rail installation consists of 4x4 structural steel rail posts, sleeved with 4x4 white vinyl post sleeves with matching post caps and skirts, white vinyl top and botom rails, with 2” square white vinyl balusters or ¾” round black aluminum balusters. Optionally, drink railing from the same material as the decking can be installed on the top rail to match or contrast with the decking material. And, depending on the type of railing selected, matching gates may be available for installation.
PVC WRAP
White PVC board is typically installed on the deck fascia, stair risers, and stair stringers. This gives the deck that clean, white, modern look. PVC boards are installed with Coretex color match screws and plugs, thereby eliminating unsightly nail holes.
LIGHTING
Many options for low-voltage lighting are available upon request, including post lighting and riser lighting.
